[COMPLETED] Level Up! Fest 2021 - The Future of Drama Education

Happening from 1 to 30 Nov 2021, Singapore Drama Educators Association (SDEA) presents the 3rd rendition of Level Up! Fest, an annual platform to recognise, celebrate, and bring focus to the importance of professional development of drama/theatre educators. This year’s Level Up! Fest 2021 explores “The Future of Drama Education”, with over 20 workshops and programmes (both online through Zoom and face-to-face) categorised into four different strands; “Self”, “Skills”, “Career”, and “Profile”. Special subsidy by SDEA is also available for freelancers and its members to apply when registering for any Level Up! Fest 2021 workshops/ programmes. 

Level Up! Fest 2021 features a series of varied workshops and programmes that encompasses different aspects of professional development for drama/theatre educators and teachers in Singapore. Some highlights include Career Chat: Teaching Drama as a Co-Curricular Activity by Fanny Kee, Supporting Mental Health in Schools and Communities Using Drama by Rosemary McGowan, President, SDEA Committee 2021 – 2023 and Workshops for Drama in Learning Mother Tongue. Practitioners can also attend essential life skill courses such as the Standard First Aid and Child First Aid Blended Courses and snap up a new professional headshot for their resume and improve their employability.  

“This pandemic has forcibly pushed many to adapt to the new norm of livelihood, and we have seen some level of the detrimental impact it has on various social sectors already. Education, is one of them.”, says Rosemary McGowan, SDEA President 2021-2023, “Through Level Up! Fest 2021, we hope to equip educators and practitioners with the tools, and be ready for ‘The Future of Drama Education’.”
