We are back with our next session of ETLA-CoP, happening on 13 December, where we will reflect on how to set goals and objectives as we design lesson plans with Dr. Noorlinah Mohamed!

Objectives: Whose Wants and Needs Are We Meeting?

When crafting objectives, who determines the targets? Are these targets absolutes? Do they shift? When and how do they shift? Whose wants and needs are we meeting?

Join one of our ETLA faculty members, Dr. Noorlinah Mohamed in this critical reflection on goals and objectives in this Community of Practice session for teachers and educators. Dr. Noorlinah will share her experiences not only in lesson plan/curriculum objective design but also in reviewing the concepts, principles, and ideas that affect their decisions.

There will also be a short dialogue on the topic, and sharing on our upcoming drama pedagogy programmes including the Essentials of Teaching and Learning Approaches (ETLA) course.

This session is recommended for ETLA Alumni and those who are curious to find out more about the course. 

About the Facilitator

Dr. Noorlinah Mohamed 

Noorlinah is an award-winning theatre actress who is also a teaching artist and creator of public engagement arts projects in Singapore. Since 1988, she has performed with various Singapore theatre companies. Internationally, she has performed in Asia, Europe and the US. In arts education, she has undertaken artist residencies in schools, develops curriculum as well as professional development for teaching artists and teachers in arts pedagogy. As a producer, she has worked on both intimate and large-scale arts events, including the Singapore International Festival of Arts (2014-2017), co-creating platforms and works for and with Singapore as well as international artists. Noorlinah is a recipient of the JCCI Cultural Award (2008) and the Women’s Weekly Women of our Time Award (2005) for her work in the arts. She obtained her PhD in Arts Education from the University of Warwick in 2013. Presently, she is the Artistic Director of N.O.W., Not Ordinary Work. It is an interdisciplinary public project focusing on women creatives and change-makers.

ETLA-Community of Practice

SDEA’s Community of Practice serves as a platform for theatre practitioners and educators to come together to share best practices and new knowledge to advance professional practice. Each session focuses on a different topic of interest, and provides participants the time and space to reflect on their teaching practice, as well as share and learn from their peers in a casual, relaxed environment.
